This is Wonderful! The Kindle DX Wireless Review

Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device (9.7" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)

I absolutely love my Kindle DX which was a Christmas gift from my family. There is one problem: It is so addictive I missed the first week of January, including the birthdays of my grandson and brother-in-law! Ooops!

I'm older and somewhat challenged electronically. I thought it was great when we could stack up 45's or 33's on the record player and have continuous music. Therefore, I would appeciate expanded written instructions so I could utilize more of the capabilities of the Kindle. That way, instead of trying to search through the information the Kindle contains, I could just access what applies to my wishes. There is much more here than I will ever use so I would like to be able to find easily what might be of interest to me. Did I miss an easy index to functions?

If you expected a technical review, I guess you realize by now you're not getting it. That's the purview of those who are interested in technicalities. I wanted comfortable reading and easy access to books without constant trips to the Thrift Store to donate those I had finished and had no room for. I'm going back and reading the classics I haven't read since high school as well as keeping up with the latest bestsellers.

The screen is so clear, it's just like reading a page in a book and it's easy to check back a page or two if I've missed a pertinent reference.

If the rains wash California away, I'll take my dog, my baby grand and my Kindle. I trust my husband to save himself!

Kindle DX Global Wireless: My First Kindle Review

Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device (9.7" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)

I just received my Kindle DX and I am in love. I read a lot of the reviews that had negative things to say about this product but I just don't see it as anything but wonderful. I love to read and the DX's ability to hold 3500 books is a real wow for me. I also have been wanting to go back and reread some of the old science fiction authors I loved as a kid. The ability to buy the complete works of the older authors for a dollar or less is great. I also don't have to look all over the place to find them and they don't take up any physical space in my home. I may find some negative things to say later on but for now, I am very happy with my new tool. My only complaint for now is the price. OUCH.

Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device (9.7" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)

Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device (9.7" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)
The introduction of an electronic market in the long-awaited product, such as the Kindle-DX provides a device manufacturer who wants to retain control over the distribution chain in the global market for a difficult task. Thus, for example, a seller offered 2500 e-book reader Kindle version 2 per week at a unit price of 65 dollars, far below the list price of 299 U.S. dollars.

From 33 Kindle offerings that were listed at the time of introduction of the DX model on sales portals for dealers, 75 percent came from Indonesia and China. Quickly emerged from a gray market dealers auction, which sold the Kindle DX at a premium and served the demand in regions where Amazon did not dispel the product. Within four months of the launch had been offered the number of Kindle units (all models) on eBay from 1776 nearly tripled to 5092 pieces. The number of offered Kindle-DX devices even tenfold. In addition, black and Japanese-speaking Kindle-discovered imitations that are not available, both from Amazon.

"These findings from the investigation of OpSec demonstrate the need for monitoring of e-commerce platforms to the appearance of gray and black market to discover products in the distribution chain," reads a press release.

The growing importance of the Internet as a global marketplace and international user community has the consequence that the sales launch of new electronic products will be accompanied in future by the rapid emergence of a market for gray imports and counterfeit goods. The link between the market of e-commerce platforms and social media company able to respond more quickly and more effectively to the threat posed by counterfeiting and gray imports in the global supply chain.

So the Kindle DX machine already starts on the date of sale offered on a large corporate portal from a company based in China and offer a choice of eight records on a popular sales portal for dealers showed an estimated number of 40,000 Kindle devices that within a few were available weeks after the DX market, says the latest study by the Boston company.

Even the Kindle DX support the 3G world?

Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device (9.7" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)Remember the Kindle DX, the extra large version of the e-reader Kindle announced with great fanfare earlier this month of May 2009? Well it seems that the maxi-Kindle is about to go international as his younger brother also embracing the Global Wireless.

If confirmed, this would make its development, therefore, able to connect to 3G mobile networks around the world and it is easy to assume his next landing on the international section of the Amazon site to be so offered for sale outside the United States and perhaps even in Italy, where it is already available in the Kindle version of a unified standard.

Assumptions were reported by Engadget, which has discovered the word "Kindle DX Now with Global Wireless" corresponding to a link not yet active right on the Kindle product page DX on Amazon's web site, company that produces and markets the exclusive .

All signs seem to suggest that the model DX is going to make the jump to a international version with wireless capabilities, like the same manufacturer had promised in early October.

It is suspected that the break of Amazon first to commercialize DX version is due to the desire to spend Christmas with one product on which the general public could concentrate more easily. The results have been spectacular, since Kindle is the best item ever got on Amazon, that at Christmas the digital book sales have exceeded the number of physical ones (also on Amazon) and Kindle DX is considered a more niche product , and even more expensive.

Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device (9.7" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)Hardly Amazon gave the (almost) worldwide export of its Kindle 2 exist in mid-October, piled up the calls for a global availability of the popular Amazon Kindle DX. The "Giant Kindle" had been mentioned during the announcement of Amazon with a single word.

Such as Amazon, the Seattle-based IT Magazine Tech Flash asked for - and got at least a general confirmation for an expansion of the distribution area of the Amazon Kindle DX. "Sometime next year," is also the 9.7-Zoller outside the U.S. have to be, Amazon.com spokesman Drew Herder. Look forward, the newspaper and magazine readers, as well as comic friends.

Many other German publications were those only in the wake of a local Kindle DX starts selling in the Kindle Store. New York .- The U.S. company will sell Amazon virtual trade from January 19 globally larger version of its eBook reader device, the "Kindle DX, the company reported today.

The "Kindle DX", which has a screen of 9.7 inches (24.6 cm), could be bought so far only in America. The announcement came at a time when increasing the speculation that U.S. telecoms firm Apple may soon launch a product that your competition does.

Since the mid-month and Americans can read books, newspapers and magazines with their "Kindle DX" for already more than 320,000 titles available.

The "Kindle" Large size worldwide costs $ 489 (340 euros), while its smaller version costs about half.

The American company managed to increase their profits in the past semesters, but not only through the electronic reader. However, this source of income could be threatened if, as stated several media, Apple introduced this month a reader device itself and takes it out to the market in March.

With a screen between 10 and 11 inch Apple device to provide readers with a reading surface even more than "Kindle DX", but on the other hand the price that get fat.

EBook With The Handbrake

There is much confusion, under the sky of the eBook. Amazon will churn out a few days on the international market the elder brother of Kindle. Kindle Dx is larger and equipped and will cost $ 489. Read books with this reader should be a pleasant experience and performance, thanks to the application for the native PDF format. So in 2010 the eBook will put long pants? Pass from childhood to adolescence? We will have to wait for Plastic Logic, for maturity?

Anyway, Amazon believes it. Besides a few days ago he announced emphatically overtaking sales of digital books than paper. Prudence and conditional, however, does not break down. To cool the enthusiasm there is the problem of compatibility, which - for the Italians - it is added that of language. Few, very few titles available.

Kindle DX Wireless Reading Device (9.7" Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)
Each producer of eReader pull the handbrake of a proprietary format, or Digital Rights Management (DRM). The books purchased from Amazon can only be read with the Kindle, which - in turn - does not read eBooks purchased elsewhere. Sure, you can always crack the device, but at your own risk.

Editions Google promises wonders. The Mountain View giant has formed an alliance with Sony to make available to users of its reader books scanned by Google Book Search. "We gave Sony a million books in the public domain for their eReader - said recently, Santiago de la Mora, head of Google Books for Europe - We have done the same with Barnes and Nobles and, more recently, Coolerbooks.com. We want to make available the largest number of books to as many people in as many languages as possible. "

The editors, you know, from this ear want to hear. From the users - if you exclude projects Google Editions - nobody does not take sides. Who cares if a Bibliomania is interested in a title that is sold in digital format only on Amazon. But he, the user has purchased another player ... or vice versa. The war of standards and proprietary formats has not led to good music and movies, but it seems that you do not want to draw lessons from the recent past. With one exception. The International Digital Publishing Forum is pushing for the open standard. EPUB.

E 'a format used to play digital texts and whole books. EPUB Each is composed of 3 files: the first contains the formatting information of the content (XHTML), the second describes the structure (through an XML) and the third is simply a ZIP archive that contains the first two. They are $ 13 extra for each additional inch Display, summon the the DX against the Kindle 2nd During the screen a modest 6 inches (15 centimeters measure), it brings his big brother to a superb 9.7 in., that is 25 centimeters.

A color, as was expected by some media, however, it is not been given: The display is monochrome, displays images such as the Kindle 2 16 level. Therefore, the screen demonstrated strong growth of resolution. Instead of 800 x 600 pixels with its predecessor, it is now x 1200 824 pixels, representing a doubling of the smooth resolution.

Twice as much memory, just as thin as previously

Since it is not surprising that the new Amazon with the slogan "Wireless Reading just got bigger" applies. In the DX looks at first glance like a Kindle 2, the inflated one has. But this impression is deceptive. At least he has not become thicker. Despite the lessons of the new Kindle screen real estate is still only about an inch thick - or rather thin. That could bring stability problems, however, must ultimately sustain the housing now more torsional forces than its predecessor.

But not only the screen, even the memory has vigorously upgraded Amazon. A total of 3.3 gigabytes will now be available for books. According to the manufacturer enough for 3500 books. The Kindle 2 could not accommodate even half as much reading material.

New on Kindle DX is also integrated into the operating software PDF representation. So you can without complicated pre-transformation own PDF documents to display on the device - such as book digitized versions of Google's Book Search, in which the copyright has expired. During the presentation show Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, the PDF versions of something that we unfortunately could not accurately decipher - the live recording of the Kindle in hand, Bezos was thrown against the mirror wall. Bezos struggles to multiple pages, then commented dryly, according to Engadget: "You can see how well the display screen even looks like a mirror image."

Large share of digital books

Amazon has digitized 275,000 books are now on offer, announced company founder Jeff Bezos at the presentation of giant Kindle in New York. That is nearly three times as many as the launch of the Kindle in late 2007. The sales of the digital versions Bezos noted according to the Engadget reporter on the scene in a marginal note: For the track with Kindle-edition make the digital versions now 35 percent of sales from products.

So far, however, the Kindle DX is the press today as he was shown a single piece, a prototype and demonstration model. Who wants to buy the unit, it must still be patient. Preorders will be accepted even though a specific delivery date but not yet named. Sometime in the summer where it should be, but can be long.

One problem remains

On the other hand gives the waiting time buyers the opportunity to look around once before for a suitable receptacle. Maybe a backpack or notebook carrying case - or a blue perennial from the plastic bags, which sends a Swedish furniture store customers to go home.

German e-book, however, prospects are not required in our DX waiting list still adding buy backpacks and bags. So far, the sale of the Kindle, whether small or large, not provided for in this country. Furthermore, when about to change, is silent, the German branch of the online giant persistent.
